What Taped sends
Short version: the videos you download, the folder they land in and everything Taped knows about them stay on your Mac. There is no account, no server of mine holding your data, and nothing that reports what you watch or save.
Network requests Taped makes
- The site you are downloading from. yt-dlp requests the page and the video streams, exactly as your browser would. If you switch on Cookies from browser, the cookies for that site are read locally and sent to that site only, never anywhere else.
- An update check, once a day. Taped asks tapedapp.com whether a newer version exists, and asks GitHub whether a newer yt-dlp exists. Like any web request these reveal your IP address and the version you are running. No identifier is attached and nothing is stored beyond ordinary web server logs.
- Thumbnails and titles for the queue, fetched from the video’s own site.
What Taped never sends
- The URLs you download, the files you keep, or your download history.
- Your browser cookies, to anyone but the site they belong to.
- Usage analytics, feature tracking or crash data.
- Anything at all to an analytics provider, an ad network or a third party.
This website
The pages are static HTML, served from Hungary through Cloudflare, which keeps standard request logs for security and abuse handling. The only analytics is Google Analytics 4, and it is off until you allow it.
- Google Analytics, only with consent. Your first visit shows a small banner. Decline it and nothing is loaded, nothing is counted, and the site works exactly the same. Allow it and anonymous visit statistics are collected through Cloudflare Zaraz, with your IP address trimmed before anything reaches Google. Google LLC processes this data on my behalf; the legal basis is your consent (GDPR art. 6(1)(a)).
- Cookies. Your choice is remembered in a cookie named taped-consent. Google Analytics sets its _ga cookies only after you allow it. The theme switcher uses localStorage, which never leaves your browser. There are no other cookies.
- Changed your mind? Reopen the cookie choice (also linked as “Cookie settings” in every page footer) and decline. Analytics stops and the Google cookies are no longer used.
Who is behind this
Taped and tapedapp.com are made and operated by Drahos István e.v. (sole proprietor), 1138 Budapest, Szekszárdi utca 17., Hungary · tax number 66861328-2-41. For this website, that makes me the data controller.
- Hosting: Rackforest Zrt., 1132 Budapest, Victor Hugo utca 11. 5. em. B05001, Hungary · rackforest.com.
- CDN & security: Cloudflare, Inc., which sits in front of the site and keeps short-lived technical logs.
- Analytics: Google LLC (Google Analytics 4), as a processor, only after consent.
Your rights
Under the GDPR you can ask what I hold about you, get a copy, have it corrected or deleted, and withdraw consent at any time: email support@tapedapp.com. In practice, unless you allowed analytics or wrote to me, I hold nothing. You can also complain to your data protection authority; in Hungary that is the NAIH (naih.hu).
